About The Bengali Platter

The Bengali Platter is the story of two celebrity chefs in one household from Bangladesh specializing in Bengali/Bangladeshi cuisine. Namely Mrs. Nahid Osman & Mr. Shawkat Osman are highlighted here. They are a husband and wife duo.

A battle is on at the Osman household for dominance of the kitchen. The two chefs fight endlessly to please the pallet.  They slave over the stove & the oven to churn out one dish after the other as their children & guests stuff themselves with delicious samplings. Compliments flying like the swifts from the table to the kitchen.

Mrs. Nahid Osman now a celebrity chef started cooking as a novice upon entering her in-law’s kitchen as a newly wed. She didn’t even know how to fry an egg. With a lot of patience, perseverance & love of pleasing her family she has bloomed as a master in her artistry. She hardly ever followed a recipe. Always improvising, adding & subtracting to produce a perfect, mouth-watering blend. She starred along side her hubby on Khunti Kadai- Tara Bangla & pleased both her nation as well as the West Bengalis. She eventually moved to star on her own show named R-Ranna hosted by RTV in Bangladesh and her faithful fans followed. After three to four seasons her show has become a household name all over Bangladesh. The faithful watch her shows & reruns with glitters in their eyes & follow it up by trying her recipes to please their own families.

Mr. Osman is now a star in Kolkata & West Bengal, India starring in his own show named Khunti Kadai on the Tara Network. He started his culinary journey cooking with his children & teaching them the arts as he developed his own skills as a master chef. He honed his skills observing his mother roast masalas as a boy. Always appreciative of the distinct taste of each condiment & spice. He came into the limelight with a show on ATN BANGLA, where he pleased many a hungry soul with his tongue sweating rendition of traditional & south-east Asian cuisine. Spotted by Dhoni Chitro production house, he started a show with his wife on Tara Tv and named it Khunti Kadai. This show has become a super hit in West Bengal like no other. He now stars the show on his own or with a guest on Tara News every week.
